Using the Guarding Vision app you can view your cameras on the phone or tablet. You can live view, playback, backup and perform a lot of more functions on the tip of your fingers.
This guide shows how to add a Hikvision OEM device such as IP camera, DVR or NVR to the Guarding Vision app. It’s applicable to all the Hikvision made devices that are sold under other brands or no brands at all. Usually, the app works for the Hikvision logo devices as well.
There are two steps we need to follow. First, setting up the NVR or DVR and doing the right settings. Second, adding the recorder (or single camera) to the phone app (iOS or Android).
How to add your device on the phone via the Guarding Vision app
Setting up the NVR/DVR
The first section of the procedure consists of setting up the DVR or NVR. We need to enable the connection and expose the recorder to the internet.
Step 1. On the DVR/NVR screen, right click and select the Main Menu > Configuration > Network.
Step 2. Under “General” enter the “Preferred DNS Server” as 8.8.8.8 as shown in the figure below. Additionally you can enter 8.8.8.4 on the “Alternate DNS Server” field. These are the Google’s DNS servers and they get automatically updated.
Step 3. Select “Platform Access” and check “Enable” and create a verification code. Click “Apply”.

Note: The QR code displayed on the platform access page can be used to add the device into the guarding vision app
Adding the device on Guarding Vision app
This section shows how to add the device to the phone app. Make sure you have installed the Guarding Vision on the phone.
You need to create an account on the app in order to proceed. Ensure that your password is safe and strong.
Step 1. Tap on the “+” to add a new device. Here you can do manual adding or scan the QR code, whatever is more convenient for you.
Step 3. For Manual Adding, input the “Serial No”. for QR code, scan the QR code from the device sticker or the QR code displayed on the NVR.
Once done, save the settings and click Start Live Preview to see the cameras. If all the settings are done correctly, you will see all the cameras on the Guarding Vision app. The app lets you live view, playback, backup and adjust other settings from your security camera system.
