In this article we will show you how to check the real-time bandwidth usage, the bandwidth idle, basically what kind of bandwidth are the IP cameras using in your Hikvision NVR and local network. By knowing the bandwidth usage you can arrange the camera settings properly and not overload your CCTV system.
This feature can be accessed (only) directly on the NVR (not via web browser or remotely). In this tutorial, we’ll be using the new Hikvision GUI (interface) version 4.0.
How to watch total bandwidth usage on the NVR
Step 1. Login into your NVR by entering your username and password.
Step 2. Enter the Maintenance interface and select Network Detection in the drop-down list on the top-left side.
- The Total Receiving Bandwidth = IP Camera + Net Receive Idle.
- The Total Sending Bandwidth = Remote Live View + Remote Playback + Net Send Idle.
- The Net HDD such as IP SAN or NAS will use bandwidth but it’s not counted in the total bandwidth.
- The maximum IP cameras’ number depends on Receiving Bandwidth and the max-supporting-channel of NVR.
- The remote live view depends on Sending Bandwidth and the number of remote connections.
