Defeway DVRs are H.264 hybrid recorders that support old analog cameras and the newer HD over coax cameras. If you forgot or lost the password for the Defeway DVR, you can follow this guide to reset and recover the password.
For security reasons,if you enter the wrong password 5 times continuously, the Defeway DVR will be locked and will automatically unlock after half an hour. But if you forgot your password, you can reset either by using a super password or hard resetting via the front panel.
How to reset password on a Defeway DVR
One way to reset the password on a Defeway DVR is by pressing the up button on the front panel 10 times (quickly). So, locate the front panel of your Defeway H.264 DVR and press the up button quickly 10 times. Depending on the model, if the reset was done correctly, the recorder will beep and reboot by itself or you may see a message on the screen “reset was successful”.
After that, login with the default Defeway account which is username admin and the password blank (leave it empty don’t type anything). Don’t forget to change the password.
If the method above doesn’t work, you may need to use a super password. Take a picture of the model number of the DVR and date (timestamp) of the DVR (check the live view, see what date is there). Usually the sticker is located underneath or on the side of the recorder. Forward that information to the seller/dealer and they can generate a master password for your device. Note: the super password is time sensitive and is valid for 60 minutes only.
Once reset, login with the default password. Note: These DVRs usually use these phone apps: Eseenet Pro, EROCAM.
