The device verification code is a code used by Hikvision devices (NVR, DVR, camera) to verify and establish the connection between the Hikvision P2P service and the device.
Many users are not able to locate this code, this article will show different ways where to find and locate the Hikvision device verification code.
Where to find the Verification Code on Hikvision
1. Check the sticker
Find the device verification code on the label or sticker of the DVR/NVR. All the Hikvision products, USA version, OEM version, and even for other markets, come with a label (as shown below).
Check the box of the device, or underneath the recorder and you’ll find the label imprinted with the model, serial number, and the device verification code.
2. Locate the Verification Code on the Settings of DVR/NVR
You also can find the device verification code on the local GUI (interface) of the DVR or NVR. Go to Main Menu > Configuration > Network > Platform access.
There you will find the device verification code (six capital letters). If empty, create your own verification code (let’s say ABCDEF).
3. Locate the Verification Code via the web browser
Find the verification code in the device web configuration interface for both the IP camera and Hikvision NVR/DVR.
After you login into your device via a web browser, go to Configuration > Network > Platform Access. There you can locate your device verification code.
Users can check or modify the verification code on this page.
If you still can’t locate the verification code on a Hikvision camera, then it’s recommended to ask the seller/dealer for support.
How to Change Device’s Verification Code
As we mentioned, the device verification code is used for verifying user identity, as well as encrypting a device’s videos (including live videos and recorded video files) and captured pictures.
It’s possible to change the device verification code for your Hikvision device (camera, DVR, NVR). The steps are shown below.
Enter the Settings page of the device. Depending on the model, you may see the screen as follows:
- On the device list page, if the page is in the list mode, swipe the device name to the left and tap the gear icon.
- On the device list page, if the page is in thumbnail mode, tap the device name or tap the three dots (…).
- On the Live View page, tap the three dots icon and then tap Settings.
Tap Change Verification Code, and then tap Edit on the pop-up window to enter the Change Verification Code page. Enter the old verification code, and then tap Next. Create a new verification code, and then confirm it.
Note: If you have enabled the Video and Image Encryption function, new pictures and videos will be encrypted by the new verification code. However, the earlier encrypted pictures and videos still use the old verification code.
It’s no longer in these places. Nothing on labels and in web interface as well as direct by HDMI it asks ME for the verification code on the pages you show it being available. I am unable to use hik-connect without this code. Where is this code???
Its true help us for current NVRs/DVRs haven’t on the label ???
Access your recorder and check the settings (configuration, platform access).
Hi,
i have got a Hikvision installed on my house. i had the camera on my phone but it has logged me out for some reason. i have forgot the admin password to be able to link it again. I have tried everything i can, including debonding the device, making a new account, but cannot find the verification code. I have tried the ABCDEF and abcdef etc, but cannot make it connect.
please can someone help me???
Is this a single camera or a NVR/DVR? If it’s a recorder, you can access the machine locally and locate the code on platform access section.
Hi
I have an HIK camera device in my home. I do not have a DVR connected, I rely simply on the app in android. I recently changed to a new mobile phone and am of course being asked for a verification code……. which I cannot find anywhere. I have tried all suggestions. Would you have anything in your ideas bag to resolve this? Doesn’t sound like I am the only person with this issue! The verification code is not available via my previous mobile phone device and my system installer is not able to assist.
Many thanks
Are you able to access your camera via your computer? You definitely should. Find out the camera’s IP, enter the IP address on the browser and login with your credentials. Navigate to Configuration and find the Platform Access tab where you should be able to set your verification code.
Hello,
Logging into my computer, there is no camera access nor configurations to go to the platform access tab at all. When I log in, it only shows the tabs device management, my shared devices, and my account. There is no tab for verification code at all. I also have no access to the HIK camera devices, meaning I can’t access it locally, so I only have access through the app and through the computer. Please help. I need to verification code.
If you have access through the computer you have to login into the camera and go to Configuration > Network > Platform Access and there you’ll find the verification code.
Hi I have hik vision camera in my house. Now how can I get verifican code to my phone am not find on the box
Access your camera via the web browser. Login, go to Configuration, Network, Platform Access, and find your verification code. (Click the “closed eye” icon to reveal it). If the box is empty, create one yourself (for example”ABCDEF”).
Hi guys I got same problem, can access my DVR and once I click the MENU it takes me to mobile pattern …. think that has been done by the guy who installed it but I am unable to contact him now. So please let me know what to do now as i do not have admin credntials …..please help and its DS7200…..unable to find any verification code on box many thanks.
Did you check the sticker underneath the recorder? The verification code may be there. Other option is to reset the recorder and set up your own pattern, in order to have full access to the settings.
Finally I’ve found the verification code using this page! (Locate the Verification Code via web browser)
After three hours of struggle I could add my device finally.
