How to format microSD card for Wyze cam

in Wyze

If you’re using the Wyze cam and you’re running into an issue with your microSD card, reformatting the card can help. It can erase corrupted data that is preventing proper use of the microSD card and resets the card. Be aware that this will erase all of the existing contents of the microSD card, so be sure to back up your files if there are any you want to save. Important note: purchase a reliable microSD card, don’t go for the cheap brands.

Format with the Wyze app (recommended)

To format your microSD, from the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap into your camera’s Live Stream and select the Settings icon. Then go to Advanced Settings, select Local Storage, and select Format. When the formatting is complete you will hear a “ding ding.”

Format on a Windows computer

1. Pull the MicroSD card from the Wyze Cam, and plug it into your computer (if you don’t have a port, you may need an adapter).
2. Open your computer’s file browser.
3. Right-click on the MicroSD card’s listing in the navigation panel (it should appear near your computer’s primary drive. For Windows, this is likely your C:/ drive).
4. Right-click the card, and select “Format…” from the right-click menu.
5. Ensure that the Format Type is set to FAT32.
6. Press “Start”.

Format on a Mac computer

1. Pull the MicroSD card from the Wyze Cam, and plug it into your Mac (if you don’t have a port, you may need an adapter).
2. On the Finder bar, use the Go menu to access Utilities.
3. Within Utilities, access Disk Utility.
4. In Disk Utility, select the MicroSD card from the left-hand menu, and navigate to the ‘Erase‘ tab in the main panel (the right-hand fields).
5. From the Format dropdown menu, choose “MS-DOS FAT”.
6. You can either leave the Title field blank or name it whatever you choose.
7. Press the ‘Erase’ button, and select ‘Erase‘ from the verification popup.

Note: Be careful, no matter which instructions you follow, make sure the format is completely finished before removing the card to prevent it from getting corrupted.
