Honeywell security cameras and recorders are quite popular in the market. Lately, Honeywell doesn’t manufacture its own security equipment anymore, instead they rebrand and resell OEM cameras. For a period of time they used Dahua OEM cameras and sold them under the Honeywell logo.
The Honeywell cameras default username is admin (case-sensitive) and the default password is 1234. In some models the username may be “Administrator”. This is valid for Honeywell security cameras and recorders. Another account that is present in most of their cameras is the guest account which is username: guest and password: guest.
Honeywell Default Password
So, Honeywell CCTV cameras default username and password:
- username: admin and password: 1234
- username: Administrator and password 1234
- username: admin and password: 123456 (for certain DVRs)
- username: guest and password: guest
Once you log into a Honeywell camera, for security purposes, you are required to create a new secure password at the first login. The password must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character. The password cannot be blank.
If the Honeywell default password doesn’t work then you can reset the camera. Open up the camera (dome or bullet), locate the reset button, keep it pressed for 15 seconds while the camera is powered on (PoE or power adapter). Release the reset button and wait for the camera to reboot. Once online again, try to access using the default username and password (listed above).
It’s always recommended to create a unique and strong password and if you have an older version of Honeywell cameras always modify the password. Never use the default password because it’s very easy to get hacked.
There are software that scan the network and try the default usernames and password on exposed security systems and many times they get a hit simply because people never changed the password that the cameras and recorders came with.
