In this guide, we will show how to flash the firmware manually on a Wyze Cam. It may come in handy if you can’t update automatically or if for some reason you must do it manually.
First, you need to download the right firmware that is released for your camera model. Then follow the steps below for each model.
Flash Firmware for Wyze Cam v3
- Access the Wyze Cam v3 files on the official Release Notes page.
- Download the version of firmware that fits your situation. Then we have to place this firmware on the microSD card (you need to have an SD adapter to access the microSD card via computer).
- On the firmware page (linked above), for Windows 10: Right-click on the folder and select extract all. For Mac: Just drag and drop the folder, put it on the root directory of your microSD card. For both Mac and Windows, you have to rename the file to demo_wcv3.bin.
- Power off your camera and insert your microSD card on the Wyze Cam card slot.
- Hold the setup button, plug in your USB cable, keep holding the setup button for 3-6 seconds until the light is solid purple, then release the button. When we say “solid purple”, it means both the blue and red LEDs will be on at once, making it appear to be a solid purple.
- Wait for 4-5 minutes. The camera will automatically reboot and change light status during this time.
- Once this is done, your camera should be functioning with the original setup which means there’s no need to re-setup the camera.
Flash Firmware for Wyze Cam v2 and Wyze Cam Pan
- The firmware files for these two camera models can be found on the official Release Notes page.
- Download the firmware on your computer. We need to copy it to the microSD card.
- For Windows 10: Right-click on the folder and select extract all. For Mac: Just drag and drop the folder, put it on the root directory of your microSD card. For both Mac and Windows, rename the file to demo.bin.
- Power off your camera and insert your microSD card.
- Hold the setup button, plug in your USB cable, keep holding the setup button for 3-6 seconds until the light is solid blue, then release the button. By “solid blue” we mean that both the blue and yellow LEDs will be on at once, making it appear to be a lighter blue.
- Wait for 4-5 minutes. The camera will automatically reboot and change light status during this time.
- Once this is done, your camera should be functioning with the original setup, no need to redo the settings on the camera.
Flash Firmware for Wyze Cam v1
- Wyze Cam v1 firmware files can be found on the Release Notes page.
- Download the required firmware and place it on the microSD card that should be previously connected to the computer via an SD adapter.
- For Windows 10 right-click in the folder and select extract all. For Mac: just drag and drop the folder, and put it on the root directory of your microSD card, and rename it to FIRMWARE_660R_F.BIN.
- Power off your camera and insert your MicroSD card.
- Hold the setup button, plug in your USB cable, and keep holding the setup button for 12-15 seconds, then release the button.
- Wait for 4-5 minutes. The camera will reboot and change light status during this time.
- After it is done, the camera light should be flashing yellow (ready to set up).
- In these Wyze models, you need to te-setup your device as a new device.
