Lilin is a Taiwan-based global surveillance manufacturer that provides an array of products such as IP security cameras, NVRs, DVRs, and other surveillance-related equipment.
In many cases, their products are sold by third-party vendors under various brand names. Below we’ve listed the default username, password, and IP address for Lilin devices.
Default credentials for all Lilin IP cameras
- Default Username: admin
- Default Password: pass
- Default IP Address: 192.168.0.200
Default credentials for Lilin NVR or DVR
- Default Username: admin
- Default Password: 1111
- Default IP Address: 192.168.0.111
Additional users passwords
For pre-defined usernames with numbers at the end, commonly found on the latest generation of Lilin NVRs the default username and password details are:
- Username: User01 and Password: 3333
- Username: User02 and Password: 3333
- Username: User03 and Password: 3333
It is strongly recommended to change the default passwords for the Admin, Operator, and Guest default accounts. It is not necessary to change the additional users’ passwords unless these user accounts have had access rights assigned to them.
Lilin Account Lock
To improve security even further, Lilin recommends enabling the Account Lock feature. This feature will automatically lock access to the NVR’s web interface once a password has been entered incorrectly more than a specified amount of times.
To enable this feature, access the NVR’s local menu or web GUI and select System from the menu and then the Users’ tab at the top of the screen. At the bottom of the Users menu bar, you will see an Account option. Click on it.
Account Lock is the number of times a password can be entered incorrectly before the NVR stops web GUI access. For example, you can lock the unit once the wrong password is entered three times.
Recovering Time is the time that the GUI will be inaccessible. For example, you can lock the unit for 30 minutes, and then the user can try to enter the password again.
The Complex Password tick box forces passwords entered into the user accounts to be strong passwords requiring numbers, letters, and symbols. If their password is considered weak, the system won’t allow it and the user is forced to create a strong one.
How to reset the password on Lilin IP cameras or NVR/DVR
If the default password doesn’t work, or somehow you forgot it, then you can reset Lilian IP camera to factory default by using the reset button.
This button will erase all the settings on the camera, including the credentials. Basically, the camera will go to factory settings. The reset button can be a physical button or physical cable located at the camera itself.
Reset password on Lilin Bullet and Dome IP Camera
On most bullet and dome cameras there is a physical reset button located within the camera’s internals. This will involve removing the camera’s cover in order to gain access to the reset button.
Once access has been gained and the button located power the camera up and allow 2 to 3 minutes for the camera to boot up.
Press and hold the emergency reset button for 30 seconds then release. The camera will automatically reboot and come online with the default password.
Reset password on Lilin Turret IP Camera
As a general rule of thumb, any sealed cameras such as the turret cameras have a reset cable located near the RJ45 connector at the end of the fly lead.
This will need to be stripped and shorted together for 30 seconds and then released and taped up so the ends can not touch accidentally.
Power the camera up and allow 2 to 3 minutes for the camera to boot up. Short (connect the ends) the cable together for 30 seconds then release and tape as shown in the picture below.
Reset password on Lilin Box Style Camera
The emergency factory reset button is usually located on the rear of the camera. Power the camera up and allow 2 to 3 minutes for the camera to boot up. Press and hold the emergency reset button for 30 seconds then release.
Once the factory reset has been completed the camera will return to its original configuration. Its credentials will be as follows:
- IP Address: 192.168.0.200
- Username: admin
- Password: pass
Additionally you may try the combinations of default usernames and passwords listed in the intro of this article.
Reset password on Lilin NVR (or DVR)
If you have forgotten the password for your Lilin recorder and you can not access the device’s main menu without being prompted to enter a password, you will need to contact Lilin technical support so they can help assist you to reset the password. You need to fill out the info on the official website at meritlilin.com.
Sometimes Lilin recorders don’t ask for a password, and if that’s the case, you can perform a factory reset via the local interface.
To do so, you will need a mouse and a Monitor/TV connected to the rear HDMI or VGA port of the NVR. Note that it is not possible to perform a factory reset from a web browser.
Enter the NVR menu by clicking the ‘Cog’ icon on the top left-hand side of the screen. If you do not initially see the Cog icon, move the mouse to the top left of the screen and the icon should appear.
Once in the menu, select System from the left menu bar and then Maintenance from the top bar.
Under the Maintenance menu, you will see two possible options for a factory reset.
- Restore: Resets all parameters back to default except IP address and monitor output resolution. This is usually the recommended option to choose
- Default: Resets ALL parameters to the original factory settings.
Once done, the recorder will reboot and you can access it normally using the default credentials. Don’t forget to modify the password.
Lastly, if none of these works, then you should contact the seller or the manufacturer for further assistance. Ensure to provide the device’s serial number, model, and possibly proof of purchase.
