If you think that your Live Stream on your Wyze cam is running slow or is lagging, there are a few settings and troubleshooting steps you can try out. We assume that you’re able to connect to the camera. This method works for Wyze Cam V1/V2 and Pan.
Check the resolution
If you have a slow connection, changing your live stream resolution can help solve the issue. Check to see if you have it set as HD/SD or 360p. You will see it on the top left. You can change the resolution by tapping it and a box will pop up. Try to change to 360p as this consumes less bandwidth and allows a stable connection.
If you have multiple cameras with slow Live Steam you can check the connection for each one to see if one is causing the problem.
Check each camera’s connection
To do this, try unplugging all but one Wyze Cam. Now go to that camera’s Live Steam. If you see an improvement, try plugging in the other Wyze Cam’s one at a time. Check each unit’s Live Stream after adding one to see when the slow down begins to happen.
• If reducing the number of cameras connected does not improve the connection, please try moving one of the units close to the router to see if this improves the connection quality.
• If other devices on the network are having trouble too, try rebooting your router to see if the connections clear up.
I just set up my second camera which I wanted to use on my front door. While checking it in my office, within 10′ of my router, I discovered it had a 20 – 30 second delay. Changing to 360p made a significant; but, not sufficient improvement to maybe 10-14 seconds. I converted my first camera to a web camera for my laptop and it works great for that. I am pursuing this further; since the Wyze camera would be a tremendous value except for the delay which makes it useless for a lot of applications.
I have 1 camera. Whether on SD or 360 [I gave up on HD and not needed anyway] I have a 20 second video delay despite the router and screen being 20′ away from camera. I even put a range extender in between and still 20 sec. delay.
What’s needed is an ethernet through power line system. The camera has to be plugged into power and that same power outlet could be used as a link to another device powered in near router that can be connected to router and if necessary the screen. I am not an expert in this but there are numerous complaints about video delay and something needs to be done to resolve this. If someone rings the bell they can be gone in 20 seconds if no answer.
