In this article we will show the procedure of resetting a Foscam camera. Quite often an end user may encounter a situation when the password is forgotten for a specific camera or let’s say it needs to reset the settings and start from the beginning. This procedure restores the camera settings to the factory default.
To reset a Foscam camera, locate the reset button and press it for approximately 30 seconds. After that the camera will reboot itself and the factory settings will be restored. Some models require only a 10-15 second timeframe. To be sure, hold the button for 30 seconds. If the Foscam camera shows the message “Reset successful” before the 30 second timeframe passes, please release the reset button.
After the reset procedure is done, the username will be “admin” and no password (leave the password field blank). After the first login to the camera you will be prompted to create a new username and password.
Reset button location on Foscam cameras
1. On Foscam indoor PT cameras the reset button is located either on the bottom of the camera in a little hole or is on the side of the body. Use the end of a paperclip to press the button.
2. On Foscam indoor cube cameras the reset button is located on the back of the unit (as shown on the picture below)
3. On Foscam indoor dome cameras the reset button is located on the tail cable coming out of the back of the camera.
4. On Foscam outdoor bullet style cameras the reset button is located on the tail cable coming out of the back of the camera.
5. On Foscam outdoor PT (pan-tilt) cameras the reset button is located on the tail cable coming out of the back of the camera.
6. On the Foscam Fosbaby series of the cameras the reset button is located on the body of the camera.
If after pressing the reset button for 30 seconds the camera does not successfully reset, try to power cycle the unit off and on again (power off the camera then power it on). Repeat the procedure of pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. The camera should successfully reset now.
i have a r2 unit and my ipcam search tool sees it and so does the foscam program but the camera will not let me log on to it. it resets good and the foscam program will insert it in the sidebar but will not show the device settings or allow a log on. even my tinycam pro finds it in both the setup and in p2p or onvif and yet i still can’t log on. anyone have a fix? thanks
Hi Bob,
Sorry I can’t help but I seem to have a similar issue with an older Foscam FI9818.
As I couldn’t get it to connect to my WiFi after some wifi changes, I decided to reset it to factory default by pushing the reset button for 30 seconds, so I could start it from scratch.
I see it reboots (the camera swivles positions). However, when I try to log in I keep getting the default password window. As soon as I login with the standard admin account, it gives me a window to create a new user name and PWD. Everytime I hit confirm, it returns to the standard login window and I still can’t login in. My old login doesn’t work anymore (which was to be expected). It looks like it is stuck to its admin password and I am now in an endless loop of chaning it, but it then returns back to the admin one.
I can see the camera on the network and in various tools and programs, but I just can’t get in, even after 10 resets to factory settings…
Any idea from anyone?
THanks
Peter

hi,
My IP camera became brick after upgrading firmware, the camera model is FI9900PR.
Before the upgrading I was able to scan the QR code and add this camera onto my Foscam App and was also able to watch the camera pictures via app.
It is a very terrible experience since I spent so much time to search helps online and finally hard reset the camera and it did not work. The LED light for the Ethernet cable was not even power on.
Please help. This terrible thing will actually damage the public image for Foscam in USA. I have seen many people are complaining about these upgrade troubles.
Please give me a number I can call to seek tech support
