Uniview’s ColorHunter cameras provide a customizable lighting solution to meet diverse needs. Users can opt for either a flashing or steady light, depending on their specific situation and preferences.

This lighting feature is activated through the user-friendly “Intrusion” or “Cross Line” detection zones, easily configured using the NVR’s intuitive “Smart” menu.

This feature allows users to adapt the camera settings to their unique camera setup and improve the overall security.

Any time the camera is triggered, the lights will flash or stay on and let the people know that they’re not alone and everything is monitored.

To activate the white light feature, begin by configuring a detection area on the NVR. Start by logging into the NVR through a web browser and accessing the Smart settings.

From the Select Channel dropdown menu, pick your ColorHunter, then enable either “Intrusion” or “Cross Line” detection by checking the corresponding box.

Any person or vehicle entering this designated area will trigger the light on the ColorHunter camera.

Switching Between Flashing and Steady Light

Upon completing the setup of the detection zone using the Smart menu, the light will initiate a flashing sequence when triggered by someone entering the designated area.

This kind of response is strategically designed to discourage loitering or any attempt to trespass into restricted areas. If someone sees the flashing, they’ll know that the area is under surveillance.

For those who prefer to have a light that turns on without flashing, you’ll need to make some adjustments in the settings.

How to Enable the Steady (non-flashing) Light in UNV cameras

To enable a steady light, go to the NVR’s Camera and then Image Settings menu. Choose your camera from the Select Channel dropdown menu, and turn off Smart Illumination. This ensures that the light doesn’t turn on automatically in low-light conditions.

Next, click the small arrow next to Exposure to access additional options. Set the Day/Night Mode to Night.

When the camera is in Night mode and the light is triggered, it will shine consistently without any flashing. In Day mode, the light will follow the previously noted flashing pattern.

So, remember to set the camera to Night mode if you prefer a steady, non-flashing light.

owever, it’s essential to be aware of a potential drawback – as the light remains inactive until someone enters the scene, achieving optimal full-color images during nighttime might be affected.

The impact of this mode largely depends on the ambient light available at your specific location. In a typical residential neighborhood equipped with street lights, the camera fulfills its purpose.

On the flip side, in more rural areas, it’s recommended to retain Smart Illumination functionality. Failing to do so could lead to a compromise in image quality due to the limited light available in the surrounding environment.

Therefore, it’s crucial to strike the right balance based on your location for the ColorHunter camera to deliver the desired performance.
