If you’re interested in how to add Zosi security cameras on your phone, then read this article. Basically, in order to view or playback your cameras on your smartphone, you need to connect your Zosi Smart account to your DVR or NVR. The setup is easy, simply follow the steps and you’ll get it done in 5 minutes.

Before you start:

  • Make sure your Zosi DVR/NVR is connected to the internet. Plug a network cable (Ethernet cable) into the back of the DVR and get an “OK” message when you test your internet connection in the Network settings of the DVR
  • Make sure to have Zosi DVR’s information. Navigate to the Information > System screen so you are able to view your unique Device ID and QR Code. The QR code is also available in the Setup Wizard. How to view Zosi DVR cameras on the phone via Zosi Smart app
  • You have to install the Zosi Smart app on your phone and register an account. This the Zosi app to view the security cameras on your phone.

Step 1. Open the Zosi Smart app and log in with your Zosi Smart username and password (this is not the password of the DVR, but the account for the app itself). If you haven’t created an account, read the instructions here.

Step 2. Once you’ve logged in, click the upper right corner to add the device.

Select DVR if you need to add an Analog, Wireless or PoE recorder (so, even if you have a NVR, still select the DVR option). Select the “IP Camera” option if you’d like to add a single IP Camera.

If you have a Zosi IP Camera, select the “Camera” option in the left-hand column, and you will see the image below. Select your model of camera by tapping the corresponding icon.

Once the camera turns on, scan the QR code by pointing the camera at the QR code found on the Information > System menu. The DVR will make a “beep” sound once the code has been scanned.

If you get a message saying that your QR code is EXPIRED, select the icon in the top right hand corner that looks like a pencil, as seen below. This will let you add your device ID manually.

Once you select the pencil icon, you can type the Device ID manually. Enter your DeviceID as it’s seen on the System > Information menu. The Device ID is case sensitive. The “Password” field is the password for your DVR, not the password for your app’s account.

By default, there is no DVR password, so if you haven’t set up a password on the DVR itself, you may be able to leave the password field empty (and use the username admin). The “Name” field can be used to name your device. It can be anything you’d like (such as “My Home”). Once you are finished, select “Next” to add your device.

Allow time for buffering, and be advised that the quality of the image depends on your internet speed. If you’d like to adjust the quality of your streams, you can do so in the Network > Substream menu.
