Sometimes the Wyze phone app doesn’t recognize any devices, won’t add new cameras, and will usually display various error messages such as “Failed to update device list”, “1001 error”, “error code is: 1001” etc. Generally speaking, this kind of error shows up mostly on Apple devices.
The interesting thing is that the same app and cameras may work fine on iPad, but won’t work on iPhone, or even vice versa. There are few things you can do to fix the Wyze 1001 error. Follow the suggestions below.
First of all, try turning Private Address off on your iPhone, actually, this has been a fix for these types of issues.
Go to the iPhone’s settings on your phone (WiFi) and then tap the “i” icon ( it stands for information) to the right side of your WiFi network’s SSD then toggle “Private Address” off. Go back to the Wyze app and refresh it, check if the camera’s picture shows up fine.
Another suggestion is to turn off the VPN option on your phone, sometimes when the internet connection goes through the VPN, the Wyze app will show the 1001 error message. So, just turn off and see if the live picture came back in the app.
Next, you should try to completely close the Wyze app from your phone, turn off and then on the WiFi and the cellular data, then open the Wyze app again and see if the issue is fixed.
Lastly, there was a bug in the software causing this issue that was fixed by Wyze. Make sure your app is updated to the latest version, search in on the App Store and select “update” if needed. Additionally, ensure your iOS is updated as well.
If for some reason the error 1001 is still not fixed, then contact Wyze for technical support, or you can check their user’s forum to see if other people are experiencing the same problem.
