This type of error causes the user not to be able to see the camera, or playback it, basically the camera will be useless. Sometimes the error just disappears on its own.
How to fix Wyze camera error code 06?
As we said there’s no definitive method on how to fix error code 6 in Wyze cameras. You need to try the suggestions listed below one by one until the error disappears from your app.
1. Remove the Wyze plus license from your device
This is the first step. You need to remove your Wyze license from the cam. Go through the app, on the License settings, select to remove it.
2. Uninstall the camera
On the next step, remove the camera from the app and remove the app itself. Basically, uninstall anything in order to remove any corrupted or damaged files
3. Unplug the Wyze Base Station
Then you need to unplug the Wyze Base Station for a couple of minutes (at least 60 seconds). Power cycling the base station helps to restart the software and auto-fix any random issues.
Now you need to power up the Base Station again, wait until it’s on, and then plug the base into your camera. The camera setup will start from the beginning, and simply follow the prompts on the Wyze app.
In other words, we restarted the base station, then plugged the camera and after that, we need to re-add the camera through the app. By “re-add” we mean to set up the camera from scratch.
4. Record 12-second clips with motion activation for a day
You need to record 12-second clips based on motion detection just to test out the camera. If the camera is recording as it should, then go to the next step. If not, then there’s another problem with the camera that needs to be addressed.
5. Reactivate the Wyze plus (the license)
In the final step, you need to activate your Wyze Plus license on the camera in order for it to work properly and continuously. Once you do all these steps, then you should no longer see the error code 06. If for some reason it’s not working, then check the following list.
Other things to try
Ensure that everything is connected properly. Inspect the back of the camera, the cables, the power, make sure all are fully plugged in as they should be.
Check your internet connectivity. Make sure that your camera is connected to the internet all the time. Find out if your internet works and it’s stable. Additionally, the camera must be under strong WiFi coverage. An unstable signal may cause the camera not to properly communicate with the server.
Check your phone internet. Make sure that you have stable data cellular internet when you open your Wyze app. If you’re in an area with a weak signal, then the connection will be disrupted and you may get the error code 6. In some cases, the app may even crash altogether.
Update the firmware on your camera. It’s important to keep your camera up-to-date to avoid any security or performance issues. Go to the Wyze app, click Account, then Firmware Upgrade and click “Upgrade All”.
Delete the app and reinstall it. Sometimes uninstalling the app may solve any issues that seem “weird”, that’s how electronics work. So, uninstall the app, get the latest version from the app store and install it again. Then add the camera to the app and see if the issue is fixed.
Conclusion
The most common method to fix error code 6 in a Wyze camera is by removing the Wyze license and then reapplying it again.
Other things to consider: the internet connection and stability, the cabling, and updating the software. If you can’t make it work in any way, then call the Wyze technical team for assistance.
