How to set Zosi alarm notifications using a Gmail account

It’s possible to set up alarm notifications on a Zosi DVR or NVR and every time there’s an alarm you’ll get an email. These alarms can be motion detection events or other triggers that you can enable on your recorder’s settings.

This guide will show how to set alarm notifications on a Zosi DVR or NVR using a Gmail account. The procedure is simple. All you have to do is allow Gmail to communicate with the Zosi DVR/NVR and also add the email settings on the recorder.

There are two steps you need to follow:

  • Allow the Gmail account to communicate with the Zosi DVR/NVR
  • Add the email settings on the recorder

Set Zosi alarm notifications using a Gmail account

Allow the communication on your Gmail account

We assume you already have a Gmail account. Log into the account then click the grid on the top right side. Select my account.

Zosi alarm notification gmailAfter that, you will receive an email from Google, which means access for less secure apps has been turned on.

Add the email settings on Zosi DVR or NVR

Go to your Zosi DVR or NVR. Right click the mouse, select Main Menu > Setup > Network to make sure that the local area network is connected successfully. Click “Test” and then OK.
Zosi alarm notification gmailNavigate to Main Menu > Information > Network to check if your DVR’s network connected successfully. You should see there the Network Status as “Connected”.

Now go to the Email settings. Right click the mouse, and navigate to Main Menu > Setup > Network > Email.

Add the following information:

  • Enter the Gmail SMTP Server which in our case is “smtp.gmail.com”
  • Enter your Gmail account in “Send Address”
  • Enter your Gmail password in “Password”
  • Enter the email address where these alerts will be sent out. You can add up to three email receivers. After that click Apply and then Test.

Zosi alarm notification gmailIf the settings are entered correctly, you should get the message “Test Email – Successful!”, which means that the Zosi DVR’s alarm notifications via Gmail are enabled properly.
Zosi alarm notification gmailIf you get an error, try to re-enter the settings again, and make sure to type the email address and the password correctly.
