Mobotix Default Password

The default user and password for all new Mobotix cameras is username: admin and password: meinsm. For the newer Mobotix models (camera software V5.1.x and higher), you’ll be forced to change the password the first time that you run the camera.

It’s always recommended that you change the password the first time you access your camera to secure access to the configuration and recordings.

Many users that use older Mobotix cameras keep using the default login account and they get hacked easily since an outsider can access the cameras just by trying the default password.

Mobotix Default Password

Add users and assign access rights to your Mobotix camera: Similar to a computer operating system, you can add users and user groups and assign the desired rights (Admin Menu > Users and Passwords, Admin Menu > Group Access Control Lists (ACL)).

This approach allows individual access rights to be assigned or denied to camera-specific features based on the user groups

Mobotix Camera Default IP address

The default IP address of a Mobotix IP camera depends on the model and manufacturing year of the camera. However, the most common IP addresses are listed below:

  • 10.1.0.99
  • 10.8.0.99
  • 10.8.0.11
  • 192.168.0.19

However, if none of them works, then the factory address of a Mobotix camera can be found in the following ways:

  • On the sticker (label) on the camera housing, usually combined with a barcode.

Mobotix Default Password

Opening the link http://CAMERA-IP/control/camerainfo in your browser, where “http://CAMERA-IP” has to be changed to the currently used address of the camera and, if needed, the port and an https instead of http has to be added. Example: https//CAMERA-IP/control/camerainfo

  • In the configuration file, the factory IP is written in the file header. Example: # Camera IP: 10.11.12.13.
  • If the camera is recording to a share, the root directory of the recordings is named after the factory IP. Example: 10_11_12_13.

How to reset Mobotix camera

It’s very tricky to reset the password on a Mobotix camera. It can’t be done by the end user, you need to send the camera back to Mobotix through a Mobotix dealer or installer.

And they will ask you for the history of the camera, ID, proof of purchase, etc. Usually, it will take some time for them to factory reset the camera and ship it back to you.

So, always make sure that you store information on usernames and passwords in a secure place. If you lose the administrator password and cannot access the administration menu, the password can only be reset by Mobotix, and sometimes this service is subject to a fee (especially if the camera is an old model).

Resetting the Mobotix Camera to Factory Settings

All settings of the Mobotix camera can be permanently reset to the factory default settings. This makes sense if you have, for example, obtained a camera without any information or you would like to reset all settings after testing the camera.

In order to perform this procedure, you need to have administrative access to the camera (admins group). Open Admin Menu > Reset to reset the camera to factory defaults.

Note: All defined users are deleted and the admin password is reset to the factory default when you reset the camera using Admin Menu > Reset.
