Fix: Ring App Not Loading Locations

in How To Fix

Ring doorbell is a popular solution that allows homeowners to manage and control the doorbell using a phone app. This means you can easily connect and access your doorbell features remotely from your office, vacation home, next home, or from anywhere in the world.

An interesting feature of Ring doorbells is the ability to load up locations through GPS and you can see them on the map. It’s a cool feature that lets you see all your locations on a virtual map.

Sometimes the Ring app is not able to load up your locations on the map and shows an error message instead that reads “Unable To Load Locations”. Start by power cycling the unit (power off and then turn it on). If the issue is still there, follow the rest of the tips below to have this issue fixed quickly.
Fix: Ring App Not Loading Locations

How to fix the “Ring app no loading locations” issue

Check connectivity

The first thing you need to do is check your connectivity. Your WiFi should be app and working on all the doorbells or devices in your house. The Ring doorbells must be properly connected and communicating with the Internet. So, ensure that the internet is working in your location.

Try to open up any random websites on your phone and computer to see if they open up (you need to connect your device to the same WiFi). Additionally, ensure that the WiFi router provides decent WiFi coverage for the doorbell. Sometimes doorbells struggle to connect if the signal is weak.

Another thing to consider is checking any VPN configurations on your router. It has been reported that if the VPN is enabled, it may cause trouble with the internet on the Ring doorbell. Also, make sure your phone does not have VPN enabled or any other restrictions.

Check the app’s permissions

The Ring app requires you to access some of the resources of your phone in order to work properly. Check the permissions on the phone settings and ensure that the app has the right permissions enabled.

The app needs to have permission to connect over the WiFi and access other sensors on the phone. Additionally, you will need to enable the GPS and location permission on your phone. Sometimes the app can’t load up the locations on the map because the app can’t access the GPS feature.

Reinstall the app

Another solution that works sometimes involves uninstalling the app from your phone and then reinstalling it. Before you do that, make sure to clean up the data used by the Ring app on the phone. Simply go to your phone settings, find the app and then select the “clear all data” option.

Once you have cleared all the data, uninstall the application on your phone and then install it again from the phone store’s section. Additionally, by reinstalling the app you’ll make sure to have the latest version of the app. Having the latest version is a must since any possible bugs may have been fixed by the manufacturer.

Even if you re-install the same version of the app, you will be wiping out any errors or settings that can cause “the location not working” issues. Then you will need to add the doorbell again on the camera and do the rest of the configurations. Most of the time, the issue will disappear and you should see the locations on the map.

Reset the doorbell

If none of these tips worked and you still can’t get the locations on the map, then as the last option you can try to reset your doorbell. If you have more than one, reset them individually. Follow the reset procedure as instructed by Ring (on their website or user guide).

Once the doorbells are reset to their factory settings, the unit will be updated to the latest version and then it will restart. When it comes back online, add the doorbell again and try if the issue is solved.

Lastly, if the issue continues, just reach Ring support and ask them to help with your problem. You can email them or just their support number.
