The SolidEDGE camera uses a special SSD to run its WAVE VMS and store data. Its design allows different parts to be easily installed and maintained.
But here’s the catch: if the Hanwha (Wisenet) camera starts without the base that holds the SSD, it thinks something’s wrong with the drive. This occurs because it cannot establish communication with the base, essential for its core functions.
Some models that suffer from this issue: PNV-A6081R-E1T (1TB) and PNV-A6081R-E2T (2TB)
If the “Replacement Recommended” message appears in the Storage menu of your Hanwha (Wisenet) device, there are steps you can take to address this issue:
Step 1. Start by powering off the camera. There are three scenarios here.
For cameras powered by PoE+, powering off can be achieved by disconnecting the network cable. Keep in mind that these cameras support power redundancy failover, allowing them to remain powered through a secondary power source.
Some network switches allow for cycling PoE power to a specific port. Find out if your switch comes with such an option.
Another option is to reboot the camera by accessing the Restart feature in the Upgrade/Restart menu within the camera’s web interface setup.
Basically, you need to make sure that the affected camera is actually powered off (the unit needs to be a power cycle).
Step 2. Verify SSD recognition. Check to ensure that the SSD is properly recognized and that the error message no longer appears.
If the issue persists, even after the unit is rebooted, try the following:
Reinsert the SD card. Inspect the card for physical damage or debris in the slot. Reinsert it properly and power on the camera again.
Update the firmware. Ensure the camera’s firmware is up to date. Hanwha often releases updates that can resolve compatibility issues or improve SD card recognition. Update through the local interface or the app.
Use a different micro SD card. If possible, test the camera with a different SD card to rule out card-specific problems. If the new card is recognized, the original card might be faulty. Additionally, make sure the SD card is compatible with the camera regarding the type or capacity.
