These instructions will show step by step how to modify an account’s password on Dahua recorders (DVR or NVRs). You cannot modify the system’s default user names, however, you can modify the passwords.
The Dahua recorder software has three default accounts: admin account, 888888 account (this one works only locally), and default account (this account locally operates the system when other accounts are logged out).
Remember to change the passwords on all of the accounts to ensure maximum security. Also, to ensure a higher level of security use passwords with these requirements: at least 8 characters long, at least one lower case letter, e.g. “a”, at least one upper case letter, e.g. “A”, at least one number, e.g. “1”, at least one symbol, e.g. “!”.
Step 1. Go to the Main Menu, under Setting select System (it’s the last icon on the panel).
Step 2. Go to Account, click on the modify icon to change username and password.
Step 3. Click on the username drop-down menu and choose the account you want to modify.
Step 4. Check Modify Password. Enter the old password by clicking on the keyboard icon for the on-screen keyboard.
Step 5. Type the new password and confirm it.
Step 6. On the authority tab you can set the permissions for the account (such as permission to playback, live view, hide certain cameras etc). Click Save to finish the procedure.
