Hikvision IP Camera RJ45 Pin-Out (wiring)

Marco Albertini by Marco Albertini
in Hikvision

The Hikvision cameras don’t use the standard Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6 color-coded wiring. Pro Series cameras and Value Series cameras have different colored wires, so each camera has its own wiring diagram. To connect a new connector (RJ45 jack) to the Hikvision IP camera refer to the diagrams below.

In some installing situations, the RJ45 plug gets damaged or even cut,  in this case, you can save the camera by re-doing the RJ45 connector (jack). Below are listed the Hikvision wiring diagram from various Hikvision IP cameras.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For more details on how to fix a camera’s damaged RJ45 connector using an Ethernet coupler or a keystone jack, we highly recommend consulting this article: How to fix IP security camera’s damaged RJ45 Ethernet connector.

Another diagram may come in handy and works for most of Hikvison cameras:

Once you terminate the connector, use an Ethernet coupler to bring the camera to the network. Or you can use a keystone jack (consult the article linked in the first paragraph).

    Hi

Thanks a lot. You helped me to prove that two cams are still alive. They had stopped working because of water inside the pins, so I cut the female UTP socket and I used a surface mounted Cat5e wall socket to make the suggested wiring and both cams work well.

Now my problem is how to permamanently solve the problem by attaching a female UTP socket directly on the cable as the original one.

    Any idea?

    Thanks again
    Manolis

I can confirm the correctness of your pinout diagram but you are counting the pins in the wrong order. Following the EIA-568 standard, pin 1 is what you call pin 8.
If followed the EIA-568 standard the pins would be assigned to the following colours (so simply inversely):
    1: orange
    2: yellow
    3: green
    4: purple
    5: grey
    6: blue
    7: brown
    8: white

    Hi,

I have the DS-2CD2342WD-I and I power it via POE – water got into the connector and so i had to cut the cable above the power cable adapter (it it were to be powered by a local power source, not POE). This means i only have the single cable coming from the camera with what i think are the 2 wires that would have gone to the mains local power wrapped up together.

Is there a way for me to wire this up to a CAT5 connector or does it need the power source section attached too?

Yes, you can do that. You should see 10 wires there, disregard the black and white cables (since those are for the 12V DC pigtail). Use the 8 wires to redo the connector and power up the camera via the PoE. Please read this detailed article.
