Let’s say you have a Hikvision NVR with a built-in PoE switch and you want to modify the password of the cameras hooked up to this NVR – in this we article we will guide you how to change the default (or not) password of a Hikvision IP camera through a Hikvision NVR.
Step 1. Login into your NVR by using your admin username and password.
Step 2. Go to the Main Menu and you’ll see a list of the sub-menus as shown in the picture below.
Step 3. Click Configuration and you’ll see all the settings options of your recorder.
Step 3. Click on the user tab which is at the bottom of the left hand side options to display the user setup page as below.
Step 4. Click the edit tab to the right of the Admin entry.
Step 5. Click the old password box and enter the current password using the GUI number pad, the default password of the cameras usually is 12345 (or put your old cameras’ password).
Now put a tick in the box next to change password and click on the password box to enter your new password using the GUI keypad. Confirm the new password and then click Apply to save the settings.
