How to reset Lorex Wi-Fi cameras

If you have lost or forgotten the password for your Lorex Wi-Fi cameras, there’s an easy and quick way to reset them to factory default. Bringing the Lorex camera to factory default means that you can resolve many issues and errors that the camera is experiencing. Doing a reset or a factory reset on these Lorex Wi-Fi cameras involves pressing the reset button on the motherboard.

These Lorex camera models can be reset:

  • W261AQ Series (1080p Full HD Smart Indoor Wi-Fi Pan-Tilt Security Camera)
  • W261AS Series (1080p Full HD Smart Indoor Wi-Fi Security Camera)
  • W281AA Series (Smart Outdoor WiFi Security Camera With Advanced Active Deterrence)

How to reset W261AQ Lorex cameras

To reset the the Lorex W261AQ camera to factory default, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the reset button. For W261AQ Series, the reset button is located below the lens. To find the reset button, turn the lens all the way up.  Note: Make sure the camera is unplugged so as not to damage the PTZ motor.reset lorex wi-fi camera
  2. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until the chime sounds to reset the camera.
  3. Look for flashing green light below the lens to indicate that the camera has been fully reset. Keep in mind, a solid or steady green light indicates that the camera has not been fully reset. You may have to redo the process again.

How to reset W261AS Lorex cameras

To reset the Lorex W261AS camera to factory default, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the reset button. For W261AS Series, the reset button is located at the back of the camera.

  2. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until the chime sounds to reset the camera.
  3. Look for flashing green light below the lens to indicate that the camera has been fully reset. Note: A solid or steady green light indicates that the camera has not been fully reset. You may have to redo the process again.

How to reset W281AA Lorex cameras

To reset the Lorex W281AA camera to factory default, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the reset button. For W281AA Series, the reset button is located at the top of the camera.
  2. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until the chime sounds to reset the camera.
