Smart PSS: Automatically load cameras on Startup

It’s possible to make the Smart PSS resume the camera’s last preview, automatically open up the cameras on startup, and create custom views where you can select cameras from multiple sources. These features are useful and easy to implement.

Smart PSS is a camera management software designed by Dahua that is used to monitor your cameras on a computer.

A lot of people have to open up their cameras manually, one by one or in groups, but by enabling this feature they’ll open up by themselves.

Before you start, make sure you’ve installed the latest version of Smart PSS (check the update tab) and that you can actually see the cameras on the live view if you click on them. If not, add your devices to Smart PSS.

Run the Smart PSS and at the top right corner click the gear icon (the settings icon). The window that opens up contains various settings for the Smart PSS (not for the recorder itself). Under Initial Page, Select Live Preview / Preview, then Enable the Resume Last Preview.

Creating a camera view in Smart PSS

To create the view, start by adding the cameras required to the live view page. You can click and drag each camera around to change the order. For example, drag the first camera to the second spot and so on, until you get your camera desired arrangement.

Then Click the Save Icon, located at the bottom left of the Live Preview Screen. Give the view a Name then hit OK.

In the example shown below, a group has been made called “Condos” and the view has been saved as “Apartments”.

This allows you to save change back and forth between custom sets of cameras, that can even contain cameras from multiple different recorders.

You can add 2 cameras from the first recorder, 3 from the next one, and so on. In the end, you can combine them to the split view that fits your security purposes.
