The next window informs you that the NVR will send you a verification code to your email address which will serve as a reset master password. This is the email that you’ve used when you set up the NVR in the first place.
So, click “Get Verification code” and you’ll receive a reset code sent to your Reset Password Email. Enter the verification code you received into the blank under the QR code and click the Verify button. Then you can set a new password for your NVR. Basically, that’s all.
What If the VIGI NVR is not connected to the internet?
Well, in this case you need to perform the reset password by downloading an app on your phone.
Download the VIGI app from the Apple App Store or Google Play (for Android), install it on your phone.
- Open the VIGI app, log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have a TP-Link ID, you need to sign up first.
- Tap the “+” on the top right to scan the QR code on the left of the VIGI NVR. Then you’ll receive a verification code sent to your Reset Password Email (the email used by you when setting up the NVR).
- Enter the verification code you received into the blank under the QR code and click the Verify button. Then you can set a new password for your NVR and the old password will be gone.
What’s the Reset Password Email?
Reset Password Email is the one you entered in Quick Setup for the password reset. It is only used to receive the verification code when you need to reset the password. Most likely you have used your main email account, so just check the inbox to see if any code was sent.

Reset the Password on VIGI NVR by pressing the Reset Button
Almost all VIGI NVR sold under TP-Link come with a reset button on the motherboard. Remove the cover of the NVR, inspect the motherboard and locate the reset button which is usually placed at the corner of the board.
While the unit is powered, hold the reset button for at least 5 seconds then release it. You should hear a beep and the machine will automatically reboot. Note: Please wait without doing any operations until the NVR is back online. It may take a few minutes.

Step 1. Right click on the Live View screen, go to Settings > System > User Management, select the admin account and click the edit button (looks like a pen).
