IVMS-4200 is a software used to monitor Hikvsion USA and OEM security camera systems via a computer (Windows or Mac). If you’re trying to save something from the IVMS-4200 and you’re not sure where the files are saved, by default IVMS-4200 will save all your backup videos and pictures taken in the following path:

  • Videos: C:/iVMS-4200/video/ (to navigate to this path: Start -> My Computer -> Local Disk (C:) -> iVMS-4200 -> video)
  • Pictures: C:/iVMS-4200/capture/ (to navigate to this path: Start -> My Computer -> Local Disk (C:) -> iVMS-4200 -> capture)

To change where to save the files navigate to Tool (at the top of the IVMS-4200 software) and in the drop-down menu click System Configuration.

At the System Configuration section, on the left side menu go to File. You’ll see there the saving path for Videos, Pictures, and Configuration file. Once you have changed the saving path(s) click Save at the bottom.

Where IVMS-4200 files are saved

When accessing your Hikvision NVR via the web browser (not using iVMS-4200 software on the computer) any files created by taking a snapshot, recording video, or downloading saved clips, go into their respective sub-folders under the folder C:\Users\%username%\Web\DownloadFiles.

Also, on the Local settings of the NVR (via web browser), you can modify the location of the saved files.
Where IVMS-4200 files are savedIf you have saved the files but you don’t see anything stored on the IVMS-4200 folders, it indicates that the recordings, snapshots, or clips aren’t saved properly.

Go again through the steps and ensure that there are recordings in the selected timeframe.

Sometimes it may be a glitch in the software, always make sure you’re using the latest IVMS-4200 version and that the recorder’s firmware is updated as well. Once you do that, try again to download the files on your computer.
