The Wyze error code 42 is a connection error type, meaning that the connection between the Wyze camera and the internet has failed. Most of the time this error is related to Wi-Fi connectivity issues. Follow the tips below to solve this issue.
How to fix Wyze error code 42?
- Change the wireless channel mode in your router’s settings from auto to manual. This will usually fix the error code 42 issue. It has been stated that channel 1, 6 and 11 are more optimal, however, you need to try all of them one by one until you find out which one works better in your area. When in auto mode, the router continually jumps channels to find the most optimal for your area (since all your neighbor’s routers are doing the same thing). That’s what usually causes the connection failed error or the signal drop. Once you’ve found the right manual channel for your neighborhood, you’ll be able to connect instantaneously to your Wyze camera (without experiencing any dropout issues).
- Make sure your internet connection is stable and that the area where the camera is located is covered by a strong Wi-Fi signal. If the camera is far away (50-70 feet) from the router (or the access point), bring it closer and test it out to see if error code 42 is gone.
- Update the firmware on the camera. Go to the Update Firmware section on the phone app and check for the latest firmware.
- Update the app on the phone. Close it completely and run it again.
- Update the software on the phone (especially if you’re using an Android phone).
